Gooding Public Library now has a Preservation Station. This area is a no cost area designed for your use to preserve your memories. Appointments are encouraged, but if it is not scheduled by another, you can use it upon walk in. You must bring a digital storage device or have a cloud based subscription to save your files. This station includes the following items:
- SCANNERS
- We have an Epson Perfection flatbed scanner that can be used to scan and enlarge photos, film, slides, negatives, medium format panoramic film, and documents. Included software allows corrections to be made such as removal of scratches, creases, tears, etc.
- The Epsom FastFoto allows up to 36 photos to be scanned at a time. It scans quickly (as fast as 1 photo per second, depending on dpi chosen). Multiple sized photos can be scanned (3×5, 4×6, 5×7).
- Wand Scanners are available for larger items, or items difficult to scan using the flatbed scanner.
- VHS
- A VHS player and our Elgato Video Capture software allow you to preserve your old movies from VHS to an MP4 file. This runs in real time, so allow time for your entire VHS to play and the project to be completed.
- CONVERTERS
- CD/DVD Converter allows you to move files from a CD or DVD to a more current storage.
- Floppy disk converter allows you to move files from a floppy disk to a more current form of storage.
- AUDIO CASSETTES
- Use our cassette player and AUDACITY software to move your files from a cassette to a MP3 file.
- This happens in real time, so be sure to allow enough time to dub your entire project.
